Mukatsuku Records ends 2008 with a double sider with a double meaning in the title in more ways than one with 'The Big 7 inch'. A side kicks off with a killer funker from Japanese band, Big Horns Bee with Vamp Intro(Reprise). On this irresistible rump shaker no less than ten musicians join forces to deliver a brass led stormer to tear up the dance floor. Maintaining the Japanese connection with the flipside the artist Big Bang (Arision)have their track 'Spiral Waltz' remixed by Japanese Jazz outfit Indigo Jam Unit which was previously only available on a Japan only cd release and already a hit with Gilles Peterson. The original remix was over 6 minutes and didn't get going until half way through the track so GUYNAMUKAT (Guynamite + Nik Mukatsuku) have gone straight for the jazz dance jugular getting straight to the point with a 3 minute edit that takes no prisoners and an ideal track to be heard at Dingwalls re union on 23rd November 2008 with Gilles P & Patrick Forge.

Ending a vintage year for this little label who sit very comfortably in the driving seat of the vanguard dance floor jazz scene here in Britain is this massive and I mean MASSIVE double-dunter. Big Horns Bee ‘Vamp Intro (Reprise)’ is a thick, glutinous concoction of funk and jazz, the kinda groove that gets everywhere. Big Bang’s ‘Spiral Waltz’ is a sizzling piece of energetic jazz that hides behind a delightful waltz intro and finale. Only problem is, it’s over in a flash. - Yogi Haughton DJ Magazine

A hard hitting, dance floor jazz mini epic from Big Bang that receives the re-edit treatment courtesy of label boss Nik Mukatsuku and Guynamite. Originally clocking in at over six minutes, the boys dig out the splicers and render it down to a, Œxcuse the pun, banging three minutes that builds in intensity from a mellow and somewhat humble waltz beginning into a rapid fire percussive samba assault. Well worth hunting down. - Found Sounds
